Katherine

(the human)

Katherine (Kat) has been doing various kinds of writing almost as long as she has been alive. She loves the written word and finds language fascinating. At different times in her life, she has studied French, Italian, and German, and she has been raised speaking Russian with her family. She has a bit of training in linguistics as well, which helps to put all of her language knowledge in perspective. Kat also reads just about anything and listens to audiobooks while going about her daily tasks.

Kat has both written and edited a substantial number of academic papers, creative writing projects, technical reports, and other kinds of writing. Regardless of the type of project, what Kat loves the most about editing is the ability to make the voice of the text stronger and clearer, so that the message is as powerful and resonant as it can be. Kat is absolutely not a soulless spellchecking machine! She is a human being, and her goal is to help you communicate with other human beings with maximum effect.

Kat's background is in the museum and heritage field. For almost ten years, she has trained and worked in paper conservation—the repair and preservation of historical documents. She also has a bachelor's degree in art history, and substantial knowledge of general history. Museums, history, art, and heritage conservation are her areas of particular strength. However, her education has been so eclectic that she is competent in many subjects and has a grasp of terminology from many fields. She has even studied the natural sciences at the undergraduate level—mostly chemistry, with a bit of biology and physics thrown in. As a result of this eclectic education, Kat is comfortable editing papers on a great many subjects, from history to psychology to dentistry.

Kat humbly thanks you for visiting her website and reading her bio all the way to the end!
